National Warranty Insurance Group (NWIG) the previous Plan Administrator/Insurer for Warranty Gold and a number of other warranty companies was placed into receivership by the Cayman Islands and U.S. Bankruptcy courts in June, 2003, and the Court subsequently determined that NWIG could no longer function as a viable entity. On August 4, 2003, Joint Official Liquidators were appointed to go about the business of equitably servicing creditors. You can read all about the NWIG situation at http://www.nwig.com as the JOL is using that website to keep the public informed of progress.

The foregoing situation eventually forced Warranty Gold to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and they are now under a court supervised reorganization.  Warranty Gold has created a website (http://www.warrantynews.com) specifically for the purpose of keeping their customers informed about the situation and what they are doing about it.  This website also provides instructions for filing claims and canceling contracts for the pre-June 7 customers.

On December 30, 2003, Auto Warranty Reviews was notified that Warranty Gold had ceased doing business but was continuing to pursue remedial settlements for its pre-June 7 customers.
